Dear Midwife UK,
Thank you for reminding me that car seats can cause flat heads. Of course, my dear little boy isn’t sleeping ALL the time in the carseat. Only at night when I’m sleeping, too, just to be sure he doesn’t choke on any reflux. Otherwise, he’s either in my arms or in his crib during my wakeful hours so I can keep an eye on him. I also make sure he doesn’t sleep to one side too much. He’s very good at alternating and there are no signs of flatness.
As for your 2nd statement, I’m sorry if I come across that way. I don’t intend to and actually doubt I am coming across that way. Rather, I think you’re just being nasty. Oh well. If you truly are a midwife, may God bless you in your life’s calling. If you don’t believe in God, then thanks for your service to women.
Anyhow, I’m back on www.hillsidecottage.blogspot.com thanks to my hubby who rescued my laptop from the repair shop for me!
I very much appreciate your gracious reply to the unkind poster. I wanted to say something equally nasty in response to her/him but realized my own poor attitude in time.
I’m vicariously blessed by your “good” labor and delivery, and for your early successes with Baby’s sleep and nursing and easy personality.
Meet you back over on the Hilltop.
So sorry Kate for the rude comment that you had to read and address. Just like the enemy to try and ruin a blessing from the Lord. Naysayers…gotta love them.
I’m sorry you got such a rude comment.
Midwifery in the UK is actually quite different to the US. Here most women would see a midwife throughout their pregnancy and then give birth at hospital attended by (different) midwives who usually would form part of a consultant led unit. (“Consultant” being a doctor – I don’t know if you have that term in the US.) We do have “Independent” Midwives who are probably equivalent to midwives in the US but they are few and far between.
Just thought I’d tell you because the term “Midwife” probably conjures up a certain impression in your head.
And you don’t come across the way she said at all. I wouldn’t say I’m a regular reader of yours but I’ve popped in from time to time for over two years and have always thought you put yourself very nicely and do not sound proud or arrogant in any way.
